Hormann Green S-Ribbed Manual Sectional Garage Doors
These Hormann green sectional garage doors are manually operated. As you can see the best fitting scenario for these doors was onto the existing timber frames. This is common practice when the structure requires the frames to be load bearing as is the case with these garages.
S-Ribbed Sectional Garage Door
The S-Ribbed Panel Style has 4 smaller horizontal ribs stamped into each panel and there is usually 4 or 5 panels in total depending on the height of the door. Most UK doors tend to have 4 panels as the common heights of garage doors in the UK are 6' 6" (1981mm) or 7' 0" (2134mm). However care should be taken as this translates into 2000mm door height and 2125mm door heights as far as Hormann is concerned when it comes to their "Standard" sizes. Other heights are available but come as "Made to Measure".
The image shown is of a Terra Brown door fitted in Lingfield recently by us. As you can see it is a "Between Fit" meaning it needed to be fitted between the opening. The customer opted to have the frame in white.

The customers garage did not have enough headroom for a full height door so you can see the top part of the frame showing. The door also needed to have "Low Headroom Gear" fitted. The door was automated with a Supramatic E operator.
L-Ribbed Sectional Garage Door
The L-Ribbed Panel Style has no ribs stamped into the panel. It is simply a plane flat panel and there is usually 4 or 5 panels in total depending on the height of the door.
The image shown is of an Anthracite door fitted in by us in Dormans Park near East Grinstead, West Sussex. As you can see it is a "Behind Fit" meaning it needed to be fitted fully behind the opening allowing for maximum drive through width and height.

The S-Panel Style has "Georgian" style rectangles stamped into the panels and there is again usually 4 or 5 panels in total depending on the height of the door.

Sectional garage door with vertical windows
An alternative to top panel windows is to fit windows in each panel. This obviously gives a much more striking look and as you can see from the image the panel style can also follow into the front door to complete the overall look. Not only does this look excellent, you get the natural light in the garage allowing you to save a little on how often you need to turn on the lights in the garage.

Hormann Sunburst Timber Sectional garage door with archway
However, if timber is the only product suitable for you why not so it with style? This Hormann Sunburst Timber sectional illustrates how the sectional garage door works so well when fitted behind the opening. This means you can have any shape of brickwork / cladding in front of it and it will still not affect the operation of the door. This couldn't be done with a traditional up-and-over garage door.
Hormann Decograin Garage Doors

This allows you to create a more traditional look but still be modern and negating the requirement to have to treat timber on a regular basis to prevent it from rotting.

M-Rib Sectional Garage Door with Wicket
Another great option for sectional doors is to have a central wicket door installed. This allows easy access without the need to open the whole door every time. Perfect for when you are using the garage as an office, workshop or you just need easy access for bicycles etc. One of the common reasons our customers want a wicket doors is when they have a deep-freeze in the garage and need to be in and out of the garage several times each day don't have a side door leading from the house into the garage, For this a Wicket door is perfect.
